David,
Thanks for making us aware of the rhetoric concerning the vacation rental properties in the area. Sadly, Dunsmuir Community First has a very shortsighted view of the real economic climate in our county. Having lived in this community for the last four years it is really hard for me to give people like this any energy at all. The claims concerning business licenses and hotel registration certificates is completely false. Hopefully any persons who read this rhetoric will have enough common sense to check the claims these individuals are making.
If you are aware of planning commission or city meetings concerning vacation rentals and need another voice to counter these outrageous claims please don’t hesitate to call us.

DCF seems mostly to be the product of too much coffee, too little coffee or too little or too much of something more sinister… basically, it sounds crazy. You have to stand up crazies. Glad you are doing just that.
Dear Dave & Cathay,
I would like to throw my full support behind you and others who believe in vacation rentals.
What’s not to like? We have heard all the negative rhetoric, most of it untrue and improperly researched.
While my husband and I have decided to move-on, offering regular rentals for locals, the decision was based mostly on personal reasons, the tremendous workload and time commitment required, along with the usual correction one comes across when the market is saturated. We may consider this option again in the future.
In the years we ran the business in this manner, we met only the best of clientele. We had no problems, ever, with vacation rental customers.
In all, there were only great people and positive experiences.
Vacation rentals add tremendously to our ‘local’ economy thereby assisting all residents by presenting positive extra business and word-of-mouth value . Vacation rentals do not displace local residents but add to the total worth of the community through revitalization, community pride and promotion.
Wishing you all the success you deserve. Please contact us if we can be of any assistance in the future with the task of educating citizens and protection of our basic property rights you have so kindly addressed.
Sincerely,
P.S. Padula/Dunsmuir
